This is the top view of the 100 Amp alternator fuse which we need to replace.

The 100 Amp fuse is for the alternator. If the fuse is blown the alternator will no longer charge the car battery.

The underside of the fuse box

The underside of the fuse box casing. You have to first undo the bolts to the battery holder and disconnect your car battery and take it out of the car as this gives you more room to work.

To remove the under side of the fuse box casing where the two bolts are located to remove the fuse, there are two clips one on the left and one on the right. These simply unclip which releases the whole of the underside of the fuse box.

Clips to release inner fuse box compartment

Once you have the underside casing off you will see the underside of the fuse box holders. The whole compartment has to be pulled out of the fuse box casing to get at the two bolts. To do this use a flat headed screw driver in both sides of the inner compartment(where the red arrows are) and pull on it at the same time. It can be a pain to get out but it does come out with a bit of gentle persuasion.

Fuse Bolts

Once you have the inner casing out of the fuse box, you will see two bolts which hold both pins in place for the 100 Amp fuse. Release those two bolts and the fuse will simply slide out from the top of the fuse box.

Fitted with a V8 engine Mercedes claims it only emits around 199g/km of CO2 emissions and drivers should get around 28mpg.
Acceleration is 0-62 MPH in 4.6 seconds with a top speed of 155 MPH.

The New 2012 Mercedes SLK 55 AMG

The suspension has been some what stiffened up from the last model with the dampers and stabilisers and more negative camber on the rear axle to help with those fast corners. It also has drilled and vented discs and torque vectoring brakes that actuate on one of the rear wheels which makes it more stable in fast driving conditions.

So what about the price? – well it hasent been priced in the UK as yet, but the SLK 55 AMG costs £63,200 which is around €72,590

The new 2012 Volkwagen Up

The interior is nothing special but it fits in well with the style of the new car.
It seats four people has a spacious boot for its size and with a price tag of around £8000 the UP is going to be very popular in many EU countrys.

The 2010 Honda Civic

The interiors vary from one trim level to another. Some may include height adjustable driver’s seat, audio system, keyless entry and full power accessories; while others might not even come with a basic stereo. The space is ample, both in the front and rear seats. The trunk has generous 12 cubic feet of space; however, the GX and Hybrid has a slightly smaller trunk space.

Overall, the 2010 Honda Civic, is a better choice than other entry-level coupes and sedans. It offers utmost driving pleasure, comfortability, fuel-efficiency, safety and good looks in one compact vehicle.

If the buyer is paying by cheque always make sure the cheque is cleared with your bank before giving the car to the buyer.

If you are buying a second hand car make sure you get all the correct paperwork such as the registration documents, MOT cetificate and tax disc or the last MOT and tax disc if the car has no mot or tax. Always check the documents have the correct registration, Vin number, colour, make. ect as the car you are buying.

Try and get as much of the cars service history as possible.

If the car is fairly new you can also get an HPI check to find out if the car has any outstanding finance. If in doubt always contact the DVLA Always Remember if its to good to be
true, its more than likely a scam.

Car Scams

Try and pick a dry day, as it makes viewing pleasant for both the buyer and the seller and you dont have to rush around trying to get out of the rain.

A sign of a high mileage car is a shiny or worn steering wheel and gear lever, sagging or tatty drivers seat and worn interior switches.

If you are buying a car with a sunroof have a look for stains around the top of the car roof as they can leak as the car get older. Check all the tyres. If they apear unevenly worn then the car tracking might need adjusting.

Always have a look at the car engine as this will give you
an indication of how well the car has been maintained. Take out the oil dipstick and check that the oil is clean. A milky apearance in the oil could indicate a leaking head gasket. You should always ask for a test drive, this will let you test the steering, clutch, lights, and gearbox.

Make sure the car is cold and the seller has not warmed up the car before you arrive.

If the car apears to overheat or has excessive rattling coming from the engine and excessive smoke I would leave it alone and look for another used car.

Always check the VIN number (Vehicle Identification Number)which is normally under the bonnet on or around the engine compartment. If this looks like its been tampered with ask the seller why If you are not happy with the answer then walk away from the deal.
The seller should always have the correct paperwork for the car these include the V5(vehicle registration document) MOT certificate (If the car is MOTed) and the tax disc. If the seller has not got the V5 papers DO NOT BUY THE CAR. The DVLA should fold some information about the car you are viewing and it is a good idea to contact them. DVLA

Ask for any other service history such as receipts carried for repair work, old MOT certificates ect. The mileage of a car should reflect the condition.
If the interior of the car looks worn but the mileage is low then there is a probabilty that the car has been clocked.

This means the mileage has been turned back so does not reflect the true car mileage. This practice is illegal but it does happen so be on your gaurd. Check the boot of the car the footwells and the exhaust.

If the car has alloy wheels check the condition as a kink or a dent can cause tyres to leak air over a period of time which is not noticable at first.

If you have any doubts about the car either walk away or get an approved mechanic to check the car over. This is just a short guide to buying a used car and it is always better to get a second opinion from an approved body like The AA or a qualified mechanic whom you trust.

2008 Audi A3

Overall, the Audi A3‘s features, combined with its standard driving dynamics and the F1-style shift availability, are excellent. It is one good car, but since the legroom at the rear seat is tight, it may not be ideal as a family car.

2007 Volkswagen-Jetta
